The Saginaw Art Museum and partnering organizations seek plein air painters to participate in the first Great Lakes Bay Plein Air Festival! The Great Lakes Bay Region includes Saginaw, Midland and Bay Counties.

The Great Lakes Bay Plein Air Festival celebrates the art of plein air painting and the beauty of the Great Lakes Bay Region. The festival has four categories of artist involvement: Invitational, Juried, Open and Student. Participating artists will be featured in exhibitions at the Saginaw Art Museum and participating venues.

Registration is open to all artists, 18 years and older, currently residing in the State of Michigan. The entry fee is $35.00 ($25.00 for SAM members). All entrants will be accepted into the open class. Any entrants not accepted into the juried class will automatically be entered into the open class. Artists will paint on location in the Great Lakes Bay Region between June 15 and June 21. Open class artists will be eligible to submit up to three pieces for jurying into Open Class exhibition and awards. Artists may have the opportunity to have artwork displayed at other venues and to sell artwork throughout festival. Cash prizes for open class totals more than $1,000.
