Kathy O’Connell has been drawing since childhood. She received a BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design and studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts. When she began working as an illustrator and graphic designer, Kathy was able to do fine art and horse portraits in her spare time. She began painting in watercolor and acrylics, but since 2000 has worked mostly in oils. In 2011 Kathy was grateful to at last able to switch careers and become a full time artist. She paints a range of subjects and also very much enjoys the fresh air and camaraderie of plein air painting.
Kathy is a member of Oil Painters of America, Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, Artists’ Society of Dearborn, Visual Arts Association of Livonia, Glen Arbor Art Association, Grosse Pointe Artists’ Association and Downriver Council for the Arts. Kathy accepts commissions for fine art, murals, horse and pet portraits. Contact her directly by email or through herwebsite.
