Brighton Paint Out 2015
July 11, Saturday & July 12, Sunday
Two days and one evening to paint downtown Brighton, the scenic Mill Pond and surrounding area! Paint all day Saturday and evening, plus Sunday until 4 PM.
Greater Brighton: Participants may paint anywhere in downtown Brighton, even interiors of local businesses (if they are agreeable) as well as parks and other views in the greater Brighton area such as Kensington Metropark, Huron Meadows MetroPark (Rickett Rd) or Brighton Recreation area (Chilson Road). We will have maps at registration. At the parks artists who do not have vehicle park passes, can pay daily entrance fees which range from $7 to $11. Before the event, scouting for a location is advised. Artists can paint one day or two.
Rules: No limit on the number of works you paint; ONLY TWO may be submitted to the exhibition/competition. In the spirit of plein air, PLEASE create your work on site as much as possible and limit your use of reference photos. Honor system! Largest size: 16” x 20”, unframed. Work must be framed or gallery wrapped canvases.
Cash awards! Most popular and best in show; the amounts depend on participation. (Last year we awarded two $250 prizes. More registrants, more prizes)
Paint Out Exhibition. The Paint Out works will be shown at Art Ventures and CoBACH (both on Main Street, Brighton) from July 13 to 30, concluding with jurying and voting during the Brighton Fine Art Festival (July 31, August 1 & 2). The Brighton Art Guild takes a 20 percent commission on all Paint Out exhibition sales. (During 2014 festival 10 paintings were sold.)

The Brighton Paint Out is a collaboration of the Brighton Art Guild, Art Ventures, the Brighton Arts and Culture Commission, and the Greater Brighton Chamber of Commerce.
2015 Brighton Paint Out Schedule:
Please note: On Saturday, July 11, the Taste of Brighton, a local food festival, will block off Main Street in front of CoBACH. Downtown will be busy with visitors and fair booths from 10AM to 8ish. You are invited to paint downtown, but you may have to haul your stuff a ways to your site and it may be more crowded than you like and parking may be challenging. However, there will be lots of people, different types of subjects, possible clients, and great food. Because of this Saturday’s registration will be up at the Brighton Chamber of Commerce building. On Sunday, downtown Brighton will be more accessible.
We will send out suggested directions in June as there is major construction along I96 and US 23.
Start: July 11, Saturday, 8 AM to 12 noon. Greater Brighton Chamber of Commerce, 218 E. Grand River, about 2 blocks from CoBACH. Get media, papers or canvases stamped. Pick up map, water, snacks, and other materials. Breakfast provided: Coffee, bananas and donuts. Afternoon hours at CoBach, 202 W. Main St. Note: If you intend to turn in works on Saturday, please drop off at CoBACH before 5 PM.
Start: July 12, Sunday, 8 AM to 4PM. COBACH, 202 W. Main St, Brighton. Get media, paper or canvases stamped. Pick up map, water, snacks, and other materials. Breakfast provided: Coffee, bananas and donuts. Bathroom available. CoBACH will be open all day for turn in.
DEADLINE: July 12, Sunday, 4 PM COBACH. You may use the upstairs tables at COBACH to frame your works. Bring your own tools. Works need to be “ready to hang” with wire not sawtooths. All works submitted for the competition must be for sale.
Art Pick Up: Sunday, August 2, 4 PM, Festival ‘Grape’ Tent. This year the tent will be located on St. Paul Street, right next to CoBACH and the Brighton Art Guild booths. If you are unable to pick up your works, you must make arrangements with a friend or the Guild.

The paint out fees are non-refundable after June 26 unless there are artists on the waiting list that can take your place.
